Създадена е през ноември 2013 г. Gabrovowiki е разработена по световния модел и със софтуера на Wikipedia. Целта е да обедини и систематизира в тематични категории информацията за миналото и настоящето на Габрово.

Енциклопедията включва статии в няколко големи тематични категории – Възраждане, Габрово 1878-1944, Габрово 1944-1989, Съвремие, Архитектура, Бизнес, Габровски творци, Габровски хумор, Квартали, Образование, Паметници, Празници, Спорт, Туризъм и др.
